The UMUNTU travels

Inspiring journeys to places you would not easily go alone, where we weave connections between people, ideas and places.

What we do

Alongside the different clubs, WAIC also offers The UMUNTU-travels, a series of curated journeys created in collaboration with one of our Fly-ins. These journeys invite members from the various clubs to step outside their usual context and enter a shared space of encounter, reflection and discovery of impact places and peers.

Inspired by the African philosophy of Ubuntu “I am because we are” the UMUNTU-Travels explore what becomes possible when individuals, ideas and capital begin to move in relationship rather than in isolation. During these ten-day journeys, wealth holders members of their trusted relations across the WAIC ecosystem come together to experience local impact and artistic communities in new environments, exchange perspectives and allow unexpected connections to emerge.

The intention is not simply to travel, but to create a living field of inspiration where insight, intuition and collaboration can arise naturally. Participants encounter pioneering local initiatives and systemic actors who are working on the ground, offering a tangible sense of how change unfolds in real contexts, in places where they would not easily go alone. Seeing these realities together often shifts perspectives on capital, responsibility and opportunity in ways that no report or presentation can.

At the same time, the rhythm of the journey deliberately makes space for something deeper. Moments of stillness in nature, meditation or quiet reflection allow participants to step out of the constant pace of decision-making. Artistic exploration and encounters with beauty invite new forms of perception and imagination. These elements create a different quality of conversation, one in which new ideas and relationships can take shape more organically.

As members from the different clubs mix and spend time together, a subtle dynamic often appears: perspectives begin to align, collaborations take form and insights ripple through the group. Much like a murmuration of birds, individual movements gradually start forming a larger pattern.

Through these journeys, the WAIC ecosystem gains something unique: a space where inspiration, travel, learning, trust and shared vision can deepen beyond formal meetings.
