Salmon Returns

Salmon Returns is a hybrid venture, non-profit, and fund management initiative operating across the United States and Canada, focused on channeling capital into Indigenous- and community-led regeneration efforts. It develops bioregional financial infrastructure through mechanisms such as the Headwaters Fund and Salmon Biocultural Credits, aiming to restore ecosystems, strengthen local economies, and embed long-term stewardship through mission-locked governance structures.

Systemic Lenses (Impact Approach)

Ecological Focuses on restoring ecosystems through watershed-based regeneration, using salmon as a keystone indicator to measure ecological health and drive nature-positive investment strategies.

Economic Builds a regenerative financial system that shifts from extractive capital to long-term, place-based investment, creating new revenue streams such as biocultural credits and supporting local economic resilience.

Social Centers Indigenous and community governance, strengthening self-determination, cultural continuity, and equitable participation in economic systems tied to land and water stewardship.

Narrative / Belief Reframes stewardship as essential economic infrastructure rather than charity, promoting a paradigm where caring for ecosystems and communities is a foundational function of the economy.
