The Future is Fungi / The Fungi Investment Collective
The Future is Fungi operates a tripartite model to catalyze the fungal innovation sector. It includes a non-profit “lighthouse” award to build awareness and deal flow, an angel investment collective for case-by-case funding, and a “super syndicate” pilot VC fund. The initiative addresses the fragmentation of the mycology field and the global dependence on petrochemicals by building an innovation pipeline and shifting the cultural narrative to reconnect humanity with nature.
Systemic Lenses (Impact Approach)
Ecological The initiative funds innovations in mycoremediation, regenerative agriculture, and bio-based materials to directly replace petrochemicals and restore soil health.
Economic It redesigns capital flows by blending philanthropic de-risking with venture investment and utilizing a cost-efficient “super syndicate” model to support early-stage innovations.
Social The model fosters a global community of scientists and investors, prioritizing collaboration over competition and using a “collaborator” team structure to decentralize power.
Narrative / Belief A core goal is to shift the cultural worldview from separation to interconnection with nature, positioning fungi as essential allies in the transition to a regenerative future.
